The Global Compact was launched in Mexico on 9 June 2005, with more than 200 representatives of business, government, civil society and the UN system attending the official ceremony at Mexico City’s Polyforum Siqueiros. Addressing the participants, President Vicente Fox praised Mexican businesses for their support of “this great cause” and announced the commitment of his administration and the country’s entire public sector to the ten Global Compact principles.
