The Global Compact Network France was officially launched on 27 January 2004 and became a formal association in May 2005. It is hosted by the Conference des Grandes Ecoles in Paris.

A steering committee – composed of 15 chairmen and CEOs (8 MNEs, 7 SMEs), and the French Agency for Development and their host – decides on the association’s priorities and guidelines. The main tasks of the Global Compact Network France are to provide guidance on COPs and the implementation of corporate sustainability in companies; to engage network participants through events (thematic conferences, round tables, workshops, luncheons, webinars, etc.); to provide guides and other documents in French; and to build partnerships. SMEs represent the vast majority of network participants.
