Armenia
The Global Compact Local Network Armenia was launched on 17 November 2006 under the
stewardship of the UNDP Country Office.
The Governance Structure of the Local Network was approved and the Steering
Committee was established in June 30, 2009 by the General Meeting if the GC Participants in
Armenia.
The objectives of the network are the following:
-
serve as a country forum for learning and constructive exchange of Corporate
Social Responsibility practices,
-
encourage and support its members to develop joint initiatives and implement
partnership projects,
-
help Armenian UN Global Compact participant companies with the implementation of
the ten GC principles and preparation of the annual "Communication on Progress" report,
-
encourage its members to develop and share case studies; contribute to peer
learning by organizing events, and/or establishing discussion forums and activities organized
around national and local priorities related to responsible business,
-
identify critical issues related to corporate social responsibility, human
rights, labor standards, climate change and environmentally responsible business and will engage in
policy dialogue to create favorable policy framework for Armenian businesses to operate.
The main achievement of the Network have been:

implementation of four major CSR projects,
-
increased level of awareness of CSR and GC among the business community,
and
-
more than 30 companies trained on Communication on Progress and the Global
Reporting Initiative.
