The Global Compact in Bulgaria

The Global Compact network in Bulgaria was initiated by UNDP at the request of Bulgarian businesses and government and was formally launched on 29 January 2003 in Sofia. Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov delivered the opening address to the meeting of more that 250 participants. Along with UNDP, eight Bulgarian business associations were central players in organising the launch. Both large and small enterprises used the gathering for shared experiences. In addition to numerous companies, the country's business associations and employers' organisations expressed the intent to further raise awareness of the Global Compact principles among their members, to promote the use if codes of conduct and to hold an annual GC forum to share best practices and explore action plans.
