The Regional Meeting for Global Compact Network Contact Persons in Asia was convened directly in advance of the "Changing Landscapes" event on the 16-17 June in Seoul. Supported by UN ESCAP and the Global Compact Network in Korea, the meeting brought together 30 participants representing 13 GC Local Networks. It provided Contact Persons with the opportunity to discuss the key issues and challenges faced by Networks in the region and was a valuable platform for learning and exchange of best practices. Among the various issues that were discussed was a proposal for network sustainability which was presented by UNESCAP, the regional support center for GC Networks in Asia. Climate change was also address, with the Global Compact's "Caring for Climate" initiative receiving particular focus during which a call was made to Contact Persons to assist in recruiting new signatories. The meeting also acted as an opportunity to strengthen new and existing relations between Contact Persons in the region.
