The Barcelona Center for the Support of the UN Global Compact was born as an agreement between the United Nations Global Compact Office and the Universal Forum of Cultures Foundation (Barcelona), regulated by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed as of 1st March 2005.
The Barcelona Center is established as a project of the Foundation to support the work and goals of the Global Compact and the Global Compact Office, and to continue the dialogue on “The Role of Business in the 21st Century” begun at the Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004 in July 2004. In establishing and operating the Barcelona Center, the Foundation is collaborating with several business schools in Spain, including ESADE, IESE and Instituto de Empresa, as well as other organisations all over the world.
Activities carried out by the Barcelona Center are of a global scope and do not compete with national of local networks functions.
