Sustainable Development

The policy dialogue exploring “ Business and Sustainable Development” was launched on 26-27 February 2002 in New York. This dialogue focused on sustainability issues in support of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), held in Johannesburg in September 2002.

As joint organisers of this dialogue for 2002, the Global Compact Office and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) believe that this dialogue has helped to identify and encourage promising solutions in support of sustainable development.

The initiative “Growing Sustainable Business in the Least Developed Countries ” grew out of this policy dialogue.
